Museum building and yard |
A couple of kilometres east of Krk, facing Punat and Puntarska draga Bay with its Košljun Isle to south, on a gentle slope lies the small village of Kornić. Owing to the fact that settlement is not situated directly on the beach, Kornić has dodged the inconveniencies of large scale tourism. Its relaxed mediterranean style is still well preserved. The olive tree groves mixed with fig bushes found all along the roads and streets add to the ambience.

Placa, the square |
Vacation-makers and visitors find accommodation at apartment buildings run by local families. One can do basic shopping in the grocery store on Kornić's square, the Placa, where a cafe and post office can also be found. Food is served at the restaurant down on the beach, next to Island Krk's main road. During the summer season Kornić opens its small local history and ethnography museum. The main cultural monument of the area is the pre-romanesque, ancient Croatian St. Donatus' Chapel on the coast.

Dunat Beach in the morning |
For bathing and swimming the best choice is the gravel Dunat Beach, located a couple of hundreds of meters away from the village itself, on the coast of Puntarska draga. The excellent services of the beach have been acknowledged by the Blue Flag International Programme, the beach has been the holder of the flag since 2005. A diving base and a small harbor is situated east of the beach, while a bit more away to west an internationally renowned wakeboard center with ski lift is available.
All these objects and services are shown on
